I supervise qualified counsellors and trainee counsellors, both individually and also within a group. I also provide supervision to people in other related professions such as safe guarding leads, pastoral support workers, outreach workers etc. I offer you a professional, safe and genuine supervision relationship.
My Supervision Training / Qualification
I am a BACP accredited counsellor with 12 years’ experience counselling children, young people and adults from a variety of backgrounds and presenting with a variety of issues. I qualified as a Supervisor after completing my Post-graduate supervision diploma training with Cascade. The Cascade Post-graduate diploma is a highly experiential year long supervision training course backed by strong teaching.
My main counselling training is Psychodynamic, however I have completed extensive training in Transactional Analysis and also in Brief Solution Focused counselling too. My entry level qualification into the counselling profession was Person Centred. I also have a Psychology degree too. I therefore tend to counsel and supervise using an Integrative approach – recognising that individuals I work with need individual ways of working with them.
How I work
I draw on elements from all my trainings both formal and informal, as well as from my experience and through what I have learnt through my own supervision and counselling too. I instinctively tend to work quite creatively with supervisees – using metaphors, images, play on words and actual physical creative materials too. I work in a collaborative way – I am not the expert on you or your clients, you are, and your clients are the experts on themselves. As such, I work in a way as being an extra pair of ‘eyes’ (ears) overseeing you and your work. I will try to see the wider picture of what you might be presenting in a Supervision session as well thinking about the client, and being aware of the dynamics and processes that might be occurring. I aim to be an inquisitive Supervisor working with you, to ensure your clients are being supported in the most appropriate way.
Feel free to contact me if you would like to chat and find out more about how I work, and whether we can work together.
